CITY OF OTTAWA – POLICY RELATED TO THE ACCESSIBLE PARKING PERMIT PROGRAM

If you hold an Accessible Parking Permit with the City of Ottawa, please note that you have extensive parking provisions and allowances. Please see below for further detail and to understand your parking options when you visit the Clinic.

The City of Ottawa has a comprehensive policy related to accessible on-street parking spaces in support of the Accessible Parking Permit (APP) Program offered by the Ontario Ministry of Transportation.

The City of Ottawa does not designate specific on-street parking spaces for the use of AAP holders. Providing designated accessible parking spaces on-street does not guarantee that the designated space would be available when needed, or that it would in fact be in close proximity to the APP holder’s desired destination. Instead, The City of Ottawa focuses on offering extensive parking provisions and allowances for APP holders. By doing so, an APP holder is provided greater flexibility in accessing a parking space on-street closer to their desired destination.

The provisions and allowances offered to APP holders according to the City’s current policy and Traffic and Parking By-Law include:

  • Free parking for up to 4 hours, in any legal on-street parking space. Legal on-street parking spaces includes metered and “Pay-and-Display” parking spaces where otherwise the maximum duration is 1, 2, or 3 hours.
  • Parking privileges for up to 4 hours in most signed “No Parking” Certain “No Parking Zones” have been specifically established to address localized accessible parking needs such as in the vicinity of health care facilities.
  • Active drop off / pick up privileges in “No Stopping” zones, “Loading” zones and lanes reserved for bicycles and busses.
