Dr. Melissa Baird is an Associate Chiropractor with CURAVITA. Dr. Baird graduated from the Palmer College of Chiropractic (Davenport, Iowa) in 2010.  Dr. Baird chose to become a chiropractor because she wanted to help others move and feel better, to get back to doing the things they love to do, and just live healthier active lives.  In particular, Dr. Baird wanted to work with pregnant moms and kids. During her time at Palmer College of Chiropractic, Dr. Baird participated in an internship with Palmer Clinics in Moline, Illinois and was a teaching assistant.  She also did a clinic outreach to India where she worked with an underserved population who do not typically have access to care. The care she provided included a lot of children.
Upon graduation, Dr. Baird began working as a chiropractor at CURAVITA, Glebe location, in 2010.  She joined our healthcare team for the collaborative approach between chiropractic, physiotherapy and massage in-house services, but also the approach in engaging other external healthcare providers.  Her decision was also based on the positive reputation of the Clinic. In addition, Dr. Baird wanted to live in Ottawa because of how active and engaged the community is with respect to their health.  Dr. Baird’s primary practice techniques include Thompson, Diversified and Activator as well as some Gonstead, and Webster techniques, which is a specific chiropractic analysis and diversified adjustment designed to reduce the effects of sacral subluxations/SI joint dysfunction in pregnant women, along with Intrauterine constraint technique.
Dr. Baird is passionate about giving back to her profession and the community.  She is a member of the Ontario Chiropractic Association and the Canadian Chiropractic Association.  She is currently involved in Habitat for Humanity and sits on the Ambassador Committee, the Leadership Team for Women Build, and is the previous chair of the family selection committee; she is on the Board of Directors with the Women’s Business Network of Ottawa and is Chair of the Nominations Committee for The Business Woman Of The Year Awards; she is a member of the Ottawa Board of Trade and is a previous Ambassador, and volunteers with the Water Rangers.
When not in practice, Dr. Baird enjoys spending time with her family and dog Kropek,  exploring Ottawa, painting, staying active, reading and travelling whenever possible.
